About this event

  • 2 hours

This online sharing session for is for all LGBT+ people who have been pregnant, given birth, or been bereaved in this process, as well as those who have supported them throughout, be it partners, friends or family. This also includes surrogates, donors and those who have experiences of adopting and fostering babies and toddlers.

This space is for sharing experiences of the perinatal period (from conception through to two year of age) connecting with others who have been on a similar journey and gaining support. You’re welcome to join the space if the above is relevant to your experiences now or has been in the last 7 years. For example, if you were pregnant 6 years ago, and your child is now 6, you’re still welcome to join. Or if you temporarily fostered a baby 4 years ago, you are still welcome to join.

Where is this happening?

The online meeting will be happening through Teams - after booking your space, you will receive a link to join the meeting.

What does the session involve?

We’ll be starting the session itself with a warm up to get to know everyone. Then, we'll be guiding you through conversations, focusing more on the elements you want to, and focusing less on what you wish to skip. If you cannot commit to the length of the event, you’re still welcome to drop-in.

Who is running the session?

This session is a collaboration between Sonia, Families Worker at Derbyshire LGBT+ and Hannah from Connected Perinatal Support, with team members from both spaces being present and ready to listen.

This listening session is also part of the Perinatal Mental Health Project - a piece of mapping work looking at perinatal mental health services available in Derby. Anything you wish to share could, with your permission and anonymously, be used to offer recommendations to improve services.
